AGM 2023

LACT Trustees held their Annual General Meeting ( AGM). We were also honoured to have our patron Cllr Abigail Marshall Katung join us. We are looking forward and excited to see what 2023 has to offer and to serve our African Communities in Leeds.

Leeds International Film Festival

Our community leaders turned up to support the African film ‘Youth’ which was showcased on Saturday, 12 November in the Vue Cinema in the Light in Leeds. The special screening was supported by Hyde Park Picture House and LACT. BHM celebrations 2022

As part of our Black History Month celebrations in 2022, we were delighted to see that Cllr Abigail Marshall Katung, our Patron, Abdul Rashid Thomas , our Chairman, and Yankuba Sawo one of our Trustee are celebrated for their contributions and achievements.

YANKS' AWARD

Congratulations to our brother and Trustee Yankuba Sawo who received His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenants Commendation for Exceptional Military Service Borge Regular and Reserve Forces and to The King and Country for 26 Years .
The Award was presented by His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant Of North Yorkshire #JohannaRopner at Worsely Barrack York last Thursday 29 Sept 2022. Yanks ( as we fondly know him ) is based in the Camp 607 Squadron Royal Air Force in Leeming. 

SUMMER 2022

This has been an extremely busy summer for LACT! We supported our communities in various ways including attending events, hosting Park events and much more.
We are committed to promoting community cohesion and empowering our members to create confident communities.

AFRICAN FAMILY PICNIC

We were excited that we could finally get together for an afternoon of fun. We held a picnic in the Park event on Saturday,16 July 2022 at Roundhay Park. This was a great opportunity for families and friends to gather and have fun.

HAWA'S AWARDS

Congratulations to one of our own ! Hawa Bah, founder of HawaDal Peace of Mind for being awarded and recognised for the voluntary services that she champions. HawaDal has received the Queens Award for services to the community! We couldn’t be more proud! A truly well deserved award. Congratulations, Hawa and well done for all your efforts!

 

Certificates of Recognition

Congratulations to the LACT Trustees and Community leaders who were awarded Certificates of Recognition for their volunteering activities and all they do for communities in the City of Leeds in 2022.
The event was hosted by the Lord Mayor Asghar Khan. In attendance were Councillor Abigail Marshall Katung, Councillor Eileen Taylor, Councillor Paul Wray and Councillor Luke Farley.
